Summary of Professional Experience & Background

In our work together, I will lean on my extensive knowledge and strong appreciation of systemic psychotherapy including 20 years of faculty experience educating, training, and supervising 1,000+ graduate and doctoral level students.

Training Focus

  • Extensive experience teaching, providing case consultations, and providing support on systemic theories - including brief psychotherapy, evidence-based approaches, modern and post-modern theories.
  • Extensive experience teaching, providing consultations on the techniques of systemic psychotherapy – including principles of talk therapy, process-focused practice, therapeutic assessment, goal development, characterological transformation, goal-facilitating interventions, and scaffolding of psychotherapy efforts.
  • Extensive experience teaching, consulting, and providing support for the integration of individual and family life cycle development.
  • Extensive experience teaching and training to facilitate the therapeutic and relational skills involved in making and sustaining meaningful client contact - particularly where differences are strikingly evident.

Supervision Focus

  • Extensive experience providing supervision to graduate and doctoral students in practicum, internship and techniques courses.
  • Extensive experience providing support for scholarly contributions and service to the profession.
  • Extensive experience providing advanced post-graduate supervision in California and Colorado.
  • My unique approach to supervision and training includes encouraging activities that a) challenge therapist perception of control and b) use fringe knowledge to raise therapist awareness of their relationship to information.
