We couldn't possibly name the many people who have influenced us, sometimes through a single exemplary act. As they influenced us, others influenced them.

The selected texts included here contributed to my expanded knowledge of theory, fueled my clinical prowess, and informed my philosophy of supervision. In my studies for professional development, these included works - and many others I've read - facilitated my expanded clinical consciousness, enhanced therapeutic communication skills, and advanced my insights about beating the odds, bias, change, character, context, ethics, followership, goals, heart, homeostasis, hope, integrity, language, leadership, love, morality, motivation, patterns, power, prejudice, process, resolve, seduction, success, shame, and virtues.
According to W. Rhys Roberts, who translated Aristotle's Rhetoric and On Poetics, "Aristotle turned from the abstractions of logic and science to the pragmatic task of illuminating ideas using allusion." Roberts adds that "Aristotle's Rhetoric is considered the earliest known theory on the use of Metaphor." If you're interested in getting a solid take on Metaphor, I highly recommend reading Aristotle.
